Running a program online without losing the room.
If you run the same 25 people through twelve sessions over six months, you have a different problem from someone hosting a webinar. Attendance decays. Session three feels like session one. By week five the kickoff energy is gone and there is no hallway to rebuild it in.
These four chapters are about that problem. Most of the advice works on any platform. Where Kolab does something specific, we say so in a highlighted note, and where something shipped recently we mark it New so returning readers can see what changed.
1. Designing for participation
Space, rhythm, roles, emotion and persistence. The five design decisions that separate a cohort that gels from one that dissolves.
2. Before the session
Purpose before platform, the run of show as a storyboard, building a session once and reusing it, and the two-weeks-out checklist.
3. During the session
Opening well, managing energy, running small groups without a facilitator in every room, and recovering when something breaks.
4. After the session
Debriefing, closing the loop with participants, and reporting impact in a form a funder will actually read.
Short on time? Read chapter 2, then send us the agenda for your next session. We'll build it as a live Kolab space and send back a walkthrough within two working days. How the agenda build works
